Edmund C. Moy, former Mint Director, is a respected author, economist and speaker. Prior to becoming the 38th United States Mint Director, he served as a Special Assistant to President George W. Bush.  Moy recruited and recommended candidates to the President for most senior political appointments to cabinet departments and cabinet-rank agencies, presidential boards and commissions.  Moy also served in The White House on September 11, 2001 and assisted with the transition to the new U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
His five year tenure at the U.S. Mint is highly celebrated by his peers for introducing huge technological innovations. Moy brought the aging facility into the 21st Century by utilizing advances in digital imaging design, advances in break away dies and the testing of metal flow and compression techniques.  The technical achievements that he oversaw ultimately led to the creation of the popular 2009 Ultra High Relief Coin; a very difficult project that he called a “labor of love”.  After a successful five years at the U.S. Mint, Edmund C. Moy is often given credit for revitalizing one of the oldest and well-known government agencies in the world.
