The Platinum Maple Leaf is the .9995 pure platinum bullion coin produced by the Royal Canadian Mint. First produced in 1988, it was minted yearly until 1999 when the rising cost of platinum caused a decrease in demand. The coin was produced one other year in 2002. In 2009 the Royal Canadian Mint announced that they will once again begin producing the 1 ounce Platinum Maple Leaf.
