$10 Liberty Eagle 1838-1907

10-lib-group.jpgReplacing the early Capped Bust Eagles, this Christian Gobrecht design enjoyed prominence through some of the most exciting periods in American history. These Eagles were the first to be struck at the Branch Mints, beginning with a New Orleans issue in 1841. Finding high grade $10 pieces can be a challenge in many dates, particularly the earlier ones, as it was a “workhorse” denomination used extensively in commerce and most known specimens have been subject to extensive wear through circulation.
